Hi all, I have searched for an answer to this and come up with a bunch of old posts that either say that crossplay is not available or that it is available and I just need to add my friend to my friends list.

The scenario is this:

I purchased NMS on GOG, a friend has it on Steam
We are both running the same version number
We played a multiplayer session about 2 months ago

Now when we try to play, no matter what we try, we always seem to be in a different instance of NMS and cannot invite each other to play. Even though we are both online, the only option we have in the friends list is 'Remove Friend' We tried re-adding and get a 'This friend is already on your friends list' message.

Can anyone point me to a relevant post or if you have experience, maybe post a step-by step of how you manage to connect to a friends game? We just always seem to be in a different instance. Whether we try to invite directly or meet in the space anomaly, we cannot meet up.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

One of these old posts mention that game updates normally arrive on the Steam version sooner than the GOG version, and this prevents crossplay from working.

It has just received the Interceptor update, and I'm not sure if the GOG version is up to date.

EDIT: The GOG version is now at patch 4.20 Interceptor. You should now be able to join your Steam friend ingame. Try it out.

Steam is already 4.21
