I was playing around with Gimp and came up with this logo as a general idea. What do you think? I am sure someone who is better at this stuff can make something less stupid looking.

I'll fiddle with one also. I did a few similar patches back ages ago; maybe I can still remember how. ;-)

Should we include a motto? Something that sounds profound (but isn't) like "Ad astra per sedecim" ?

Had to chuckle at all the ideas for ridiculous lore flashing through my head after reading that one. I like it.

Well in the spirit of this game we can choose this one:

+ No boasting, no dead serious message
+ Contains a well known element of the game
+ Clearly states origins :)
+ Layout and size of elements provides good guidance to the eye
+ Scales nicely, stays recognizable even at lower resolutions

- Provides good contrast, but I'd try and push the planet a bit back by toning down its color

I really like how you worked on stylizing the in-flight shuttle. Let's see, if we get more suggestions. I do have some ideas for layouts, but mostly suck at anything non-geometrical.

Also, I'd vote for not trying to squeeze a motto into whatever logo we vote for. Rather, have two versions of it. Call the one containing motto 'ceremonial' :D

I am just putting some base computers down to mark locations that I like. Did not decide on the spot yet.
