Missed this event. What was it like?

This 'City or Town builds in No Mans Sky ??'-thread here in the forum remembered me I wanted to build something like a town in goginized space once. Anyone in the mood for breaking the law? Baseoumputers in ... 600u(?) distance and something like a road network maybe?

Who's in? Or do you have any ideas for realisation or former experiences?
I built this crossroads inmidst of the deserts of Atropos in [GOG-6A] Moiria (see attached picture). I'll fill this 'district 17' step-by-step.

If anyone is up for building a small city, feel free to add your district. I'd propose to choose a distance of 500-600u to the basecomputer to have the possibility to link the bases. But I don't even know if that's possible... what is the minimum distance for placing a base computer to another player's base?

Unification Day for GoG players: Ride exocraft with the one guy who showed up, and then go stare at the floor. :(

I like the small city idea. I'll come out there tonight and start building!

Any tips/wishes/guidance on what to/not to build?

OK, I built a small base and structure there. Here are my observations:

1. I could place a BC almost anywhere, but could not claim a site.
2. Where my BC is was as close as I could get it and be able to claim a site for a base.
3. The long wooden road I built back to your road is crappy, but only temporary.
4. I built it to show what we are up against in terms of angles and elevations.

How can we make stuff line up vertically and horizontally?

I'll take all that out if you want me to.

Hey John, unfortunately I can't see your base... :( Did you upload to the servers?

Without seeing it I'm not sure what you mean with terms of 'angels and elevations' and 'making stuff line up vertically and horizontally' ... You mean your stuff isn't at the same level as mine? Isn't your base near enough that you can start building approximately at the end of my 'roads'?

With terrain manipulator it should be possible to choose the altitude of the first parts. But it should also be possible to build a ramp to overcome elevation difference.

And last but not least it doesn't have to be exactly in line, does it?

I DID upload it.

The problem is placing the BC and then the first base part. There is no way to properly "survey" the terrain to get a proper angle and elevation. That's what we call in it the US. You guys have names for it too, since constructing any building IRL requires these things.

EDIT:
OK, I went and checked. I uploaded again to be sure.
Also I am east of your base (or is it west?)

Problem:

I cannot connect directly to your roadway unless I have placed a BC.

I cannot place a BC anywhere close to your base, so I must venture a long ways away.

Hence, the angles and directions are screwed up a bit because it's impossible to keep a straight line in this game.

Thoughts?

I can see clearly now!

Man, I thought it would be possible to build nearer. Your BC is more than 1000u away ... Okay, so it's going to be a very large city ;)

There is no need for everything beeing straight in line. It's connected - that's the main thing! :)

Edit: But if you want to build straight forward why don't you leave your BC where it is but start building from the end of my road in direction to your base? This 'Paving' tiles make there way through every terrain.

I'll look into this this morning. (it's 0600 where I am right now)
NM, got the base back, and Nob and I did construction, etc.

Check it out when you get a chance!

I'll be heading to Alpha Polaris tonight as an adventure. I'll build a base there.

Here is the entry for it:

Coords: 0000:007F:0000
(notice only 3 groups!)

https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Alpha_Polaris

It is an extremely long distance from GoG Space, but I already have a base over in that general area.

You can come to! Maybe you can join my game and we'll go there together!

Is it possible that only one base per user is visible in each star system?
I can see Johns base on Atropos, but not connected to anything. And no other base on that planet. Picture attached as proof :)
But I see your and Nobs bases on Klotho.

Seems to be a nicer planet anyway, so I added my own base nearby (at Klotho coordinates +4.26, -172,53). It was no problem to add another base just 300u away.

Edit: Re-attached file.

Great! Now I can't see the attached picture! Is NMS leaking into real life?

:P

That would be a new ... feature... ;) One base per planet and user was no problem so far. 300u near our bases?! That's strange. Be aware that building so near to other bases caused problems in former times. That's why we normaly leave 1000u between the bases.
OK, I've established a base at Alpha Polaris, the farthest point from the core!

Let's all hook up and go there just for fun! I found a nice moon for us.

No, just an oversized file and no error message :(
File should be fixed.
But now I do see all three connected bases on Atropos.
