Just bought and installed the game (GOG Galaxy)

Problem : After the start the screen goes black and after a few seconds I'm back on desktop. I don't even see the intro.
Any help appreciated.

Found some problems within the forum but none seems to be like this.

System:

Win 7 64 bit
Intel i7-377K 3,5 Ghz
16 Gb Ram
Graphic GTX 670

Edit : 27" Screen 2560x1440

Humm...your specs are good, but if your GTX 670 doesn't support OpenGL 4.5 then no go...If it does then update to the latest drivers.

Thanks XenonS. Sometimes I'm an idiot. Just found out I didn't install the lastest Geforce driver. Hell.

After I installed the driver the game finally starts. But I have a new problem. After loading the shaders the game shows a white screen with the nice word "Initialise" with a pulsating E beneath for about 10 minutes now. Is this o.k.?

I hope there is no need to start the game in the evening if I want to play it the next morning :D.

Nice you got it sorted... Your last problem is not one: you need to press and HOLD E to start, same in the game later for most commands, unless you take a mod that allows a simple E click.

Thanks again for your help.

Game's running. Pity that there's no manual. It seems there is a lot of try and error to find out what to do.

That's actually one of the "features" of the game. Really! There you are, all alone with a crashed ship in a hostile universe and you need to figure out how to survive.

There are hints and such in the threads here, over at Steam, and in various wikis around the web. Be aware that some of the info is based on the original release and may not apply to the post-Pathfinder (current release) universe.

One thing that is probably worth trying (assuming it hasn't changed too much in p-Pf) is to follow the Path of the Atlas when you have the opportunity to do so. That gives you an early set of goals as well as a chance to pick up some words and, possibly, some key gadgets that come in useful later on. If you do then do not (repeat NOT) sell any Atlas Stones, It's tempting, since they're worth a lot, but you only ever get a limited number and you need every one of them when you reach the end of the Path of the Atlas.
