Anyone else think the frigates make more sense than the freighters? You can run around in the frigates, their layout has a certain logic to them. Freighters are mostly just empty nothing. Slight tangent, the storage situation makes no sense. I shouldn't be able to carry more stuff than I can store on my GIANT freighter. Anyway, I'd much rather fly around the galaxy in a frigate, which seems more than big enough.

I like how you can wander around a lot more on some frigates, even going to gun turrets on the outside. Wish you could do that with Freighters and go out of an airlock ..

.. But I also like how much you can edit the Freighter and make it your roaming home adding corridors, more rooms, and thematically decorate it any way you wish. If you could do that with Frigates, that would be good, but may be more limited in how much space you get to use.

Storage .. Yeah, I dont really use it on the Freighter yet. I have two storage rooms right now but mostly for additional variation of rooms, nothing is actually being stored, they are there just in case I ever need them. As you say if you have a fully expanded exosuit cargo slots and can store 9999 of any resource in each, thats more than enough for anything I need so far. Also at the back of my mind I always think that one day Hellogames might do a big update to freighters and frigates (a few bugs still need fixed at least) and think if that happens and I lose a ton of items in storage I wont be very happy. So far now I just make do without using them.

The storage situation is a little weird. Probably a side effect of the crowd of voices yelling for moar storage MOAR STORAGE MOAR STORAGE since the initial release. As I understand it, in Survival and PermaDeath modes it's not quite as extreme.

Most of those giant freighters aren't accessible. The corridors and buildable area are only in the superstructure aft of and above the bridge.

Exactly, it's empty nothing. It makes no sense. I don't think people were wrong wanting more storage, I just think HG gave storage to the wrong thing. I suspect they didn't have anything programmed to expand freighters at the time. I doubt you'd lose it. It might go to some sort of temp storage.

Correct. In both modes, your stack size in your exosuit general inventory is limited to 250 units (5 for things like tetracobalt, Dihydrogen Jelly, etc). Double that in your cargo slots.

The freighters hold double what your exosuit cargo slots hold (so 1000 units for most items).

That's still a little bit skewed (the freighters should hold a lot more IMO), but at least makes more sense than the Normal mode limits. True, but there's a LOT of buildable space there. You can build up 14 floors high, and each floor can be built out to a huge space.
