A and D are default controls for turning, but they do not work, they just do nothing. The turning is performed by the camera, and it is very strange and not intuitive.

Yeah, it's reminiscent of the HALO Warthog.
Or, any HALO vehicle, come to think of it.
Except it makes very little sense with anything other than the Nomad, because that one literally hovers and could turn on the spot like it does. But yeah, handling needs to be worked on, also, it doesn't turn when you don't press W, at all. Coming to a rolling stop, you can look around, but it won't steer.
With the Nomad, I'd like to be able to strafe, too. I frequently want to do that, possibly because you can do that with the HALO Ghosts, and it reminds me of one, I guess. The wheeled Exocraft just snapping to the angle you're looking in when you press W just looks pretty silly. They don't visibly steer the wheels, nor do the spherical wheels turn sideways. It all still feels... very rough.
Controller control scheme is very awkward, too. Steering with right stick, accelerating with left stick? What the.
Also, camera. If I want to aim the turret at something, I either can't move (because if I do, I drive towards what I'm shooting) and / or my Exocraft itself is between my point of view and the target I'm trying to hit. The camera needs to be bumped up a few notches so I can see what I'm shooting. Doing circles around my target while shooting, or doing a drive by, should be possible too, though...
And, did the Exos get dramatically slower...? I remember them being much faster? They feel so underwhelming now, even with upgrades. I frequently either Melee-Boost where I need to go instead of walking over to the Exo and taking it, or just take my ship instead.
tl;dr: Yeah. Exos are a bunch of work right now. But having one near your Storage Cubes at the base will allow you to transfer items from Freighter to Storage, and retrieve it without going to your freighter, so that's a plus. Pretty sure that's a bug and is supposed to work without Exocraft proximity, tho.
