So I haven't played this for a while. When I play again will there be more players at the nexus due to crossplay compatability?

One thing that put me off before was the shortage of players on GOG. has this issue been fixed?
Yes, there will be a profound abundance of new players, gathered around from all different platforms. So many are they, in fact, that every few minutes a new bundle of 4-5 interloppers will be seen landing in the Anomaly at the same time!

Note, however, that this is actually a double-edged sword; The Anomaly can only hold so many players (15 i think) at any given momment, which is now only a fragment of the active player base. This will in turn cause many Anomaly instances to spawn, so as to accomodate all these players.

This instancing makes it almost impossible now to randomly run into some acquaintance of yours; Instead, the only feasible way now to meet up with friends is to join their game from the main menu. Gone are the days when you could simply tell them to meet up on the Anomaly, and expect to find them in the same instance that you will end up after entering it.

The game will still try to bundle up players in a group, to have them enter the same Anomaly instance, but it doesnt always succeed. In case it does not, there are two currently working, yet somewhat impractical, workarounds:

1: Anomaly Instance Hopping: Just go to Options -> Network -> click on Multiplayer to disable it (this wont work if you are in a group via joining another's game) and immediately re-click on it to re-enable it. After about 10 seconds, the game will sync and you will find yourself in a different Anomaly instance. By repeating this process, you may yet find your friends waiting there. Know however that the instances are many, and there is no guaranteed order of rotation among them.

2: Synchronized Entry: If you can somehow communicate with your friends outside of the game (e.g. via GoG chat, or Discord), you can try to all enter the Anomaly at roughly the same time. If successful, the game will bundle you up and you will land in the same Anomaly instance.
