misscrabtree456: Up at the top of the Galaxy map, you can put the map into three modes, Free Browsing (or whatever it's called), Journey to the Core, and Path to Atlas. If you put it into Path to Atlas mode it will show you the path to the next Atlas system.

Considering every player starts on the outer edge of the galaxy and only a very small percentage of the star systems are atlas systems its not surprising at all that you will end up visiting a previously discovered atlas system. Especially 1 month after release.
