So this turns up in my e-mail spam folder at this point:
"In this patch, we’ve added a new tethered ship control scheme for PC mouse & keyboard players. This option can be toggled, and changes ship controls to be cursor based, meaning you’ll be able to direct your ship easily using your mouse. "

I have requested that you should add the newtonian-ish flight - that the nr. 1 most popular mod by hundreds of thousand downloads has - as an option since before launch.

I am not alone in making this request. Far from it.

At every single new patch - we have once again made that request. Because you are always so helpful with changing the config files so as to invalidate the nr 1 most popular mod for the game.

In fact, thanks to scripts that override custom user-files at regular intervals, every couple of seconds - a step taken that has no practical purpose whatsoever other than to specifically sabotage people who use mods - even the custom settings actually available to you in the game are overridden.

Speed, turning, whatever - it's literally hardwired to a ritalin-abuser at Sony's test group's preferences.

And you refuse to change this. You've refused to change it for the entirety of the game's cycle.

We are literally talking about a single variable here that you could avoid hardwiring into the config system, so that the ships are not cruising ahead at a constant 1% throttle. But since this was the "approved" way to cripple the navigation system at launch, I'm presuming, you now have to keep it forever, lest the princesses at Sony's testing group will be offended. By indicating that they do not, in fact, shit gold nuggets.

So that this is actually the reason why you need to specifically sabotage the nr. 1 most popular mod, that consists of changing the user-config to MAKE USE OF FEATURES SPECIFICALLY DISABLED BUT THAT EXIST IN THE GAME.

But it doesn't stop there, oh, no. Year after the release - you're actually introducing a new control system. And it's something that was retired from computer gaming in the 80s as a stupid, bloody stupid design, that no one but Stephen Robertson's mum would love.

And of course - you can't actually just remove the god damned brick on the gas-pedal that fucking annoys the shit out of me every time I start up the game, oh, no. You need to combine the fucking worst design choices into one.

Stop it. For fuck's sake, Hello Games, will you just bloody stop it? Who is your producer now, fucking Molyneux? Game-design that's larger than life! Control schema and game-progression that simulates, spiritually, the pointless and painful existence that is real life at the office now that you're fucked both ways by Sony?

I've occationally written to game-studios before, to compliment them on good design, or about something that I know their designers would appreciate. I've written reviews like that, and I've been happy to have this a hobby.

You, Hello Games/Sony - have cured me of my love for video-games. I'm not saying this lightly - it's just not fun any more. I'm buying an expensive product. I'm happily supporting nice tech, and good ideas even ahead of launch.

And you reward that by 1. not responding to the request that I know for a fact is the most frequent request you have gotten. If that wasn't enough - it is by far the most popular mod for the game. Consistently over time, on every release when you sabotage it - it keeps being downloaded once it's finally ready, and someone figures out a way around your encryption you've put in on the user-file just to fucking piss us off.

And 2. by telling us that "oh, what /reallly/ was missing was the control scheme from fucking Wing Commander. What's next Sony/Hello? Are you going to hire Mark Hamill in an advertisement for the game? Because clearly that's what people fucking want? Actually, please forget I just said that, and that'll save you 9 million dollars.

Fuck you, Hello Games. Fuck you Sony. I'll never buy a game with any of your logos on again. Hell, I'll probably never buy another game.

I like this post.Simply telling like it is.Seems to be a trend with new games. It comes out and works good enough. Then they make it harder. less loot, hours of grinding to pay for upgrades. Gets to be work not fun. I play a pre F version of NMS. It is the amount of hassle I want to deal with.
yeah.

i stopped playing alltogether for months and months after the foundation update broke everything good about the game and added nothing but crap.

i didnt play again until atlas...and only because i saw the mod comunity was still trying their best to fix hgs mistakes and stupid decisions.

and now this. whos idea was it exactly to make flying your space ship...in a game about flying spaceships....next to impossible? and whos idea was it to make it so modders cant even fix it by removing those paramaters entirely???

probbaly the same brainiac who decided to add extra code to disable your flashlight during the day....in a game where half your time on a planet is spent in caves.

uuughhhhhh

hopefully the nms injector will pick up where nms extender left off.

I feel your pain. Or at least I did until I started using x360ce and my trusty Logitech joystick (Extreme 3D Pro, FWIW). Yes, the game should natively support standard Windows joysticks/HOTAS setups. Yes, it's an imposition that an external app is needed to enable ordinary sticks. Yes, the stick sometimes causes the mouse cursor to "wander" if it isn't centered. But, it does work pretty well. When I'm running short on nanites I just call up the last Armorer mission and ice the five 3-star Sentinel ships. Great fun!

FIxed now. Flashlight (or "torch" ... how quaint ;-) works 24/7 in caves.
i cant say whats different about today from yesterday....no updates to anything, but....

ultimate flight mod is working again. it was broken and now its not. i cant say why...i didnt change anything.
Whomever makes these lousy choices for game mechanics when it is clear what the majority of people want are Sadomasochists, they just love to shot themselves in the foot over and over.

I agree with original poster, I too will not buy anything from HelloGames till they pull their heads out of their backsides.

As far as Sony goes, I have never liked them very much, and with their Landmark BS that not like has turned into seething hatred.

Whomever is deciding to make these garbage changes to NMS flight mechanics needs to be sterilized.

And whos this majority? its not just some magical f'king majority because you're part of it...................
As stated in the original post, a specific flight mechanic is wanted by, yes, the majority of users. As illustrated by this and many other forums and also by the sheer fact that it is the most downloaded mod.

So brush up on your reading skills and comprehension -76-

The Majority of people want something and HelloGames and Sony just do not want to please people in regards to it.
