Hi.

I've allways liked /u/ket-'s refinery recipe list on Google Docs. Especially, since it was 'just' a spreadsheet.

Sadly, I couldn't find any updates to it since 1.59.

The linked spreadsheet includes all recipes I was able to mine from the 2.12 game files with help of some tools and a bit of Python-Fu for the Refineries and the Nutrient Processor.

You'll need something cabable of opening Open Document format files. I use LibreOffice, which is Open Source and available at https://www.libreoffice.org/ for Linux, Windows, macOS and FreeBSD.

Spreadsheet as zip: http://www.moehre.org/nms/files/NMSRecipes_2_12.zip

Raw CSV data (semicolon separated):

Thank You. Listing by product is a good way to go. I copied the data at the link below into an Excel workbook and can filter but so far haven't bothered cooking much of anything as I am still trying to fill in a couple of gaps in the Catalog as I just want to have everything filled in, if possible, but cooking is lowest priority.

This probably uses the same source material (reading game files) but there is a workbook at
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15TZcvrV3dykj4H0jnWk4ig3x_tN8Iubk3kfuAMmQ2cs/edit#gid=1790246625

As far as I can tell a couple of things are missing or broken:

I cannot find Fiendish Roe.
Larval Core, Hadal Core and Hypnotic Eye cannot be inserted into Nutrient Processor much the same way that Mordite and Faecium were originally blocked by accident.

Could you try opening the ODS in Excel (it's supposed to support the format, but I'd rather someone gives it a try) ? If that works, I'll add that info to my posting.

As for the missing / non-functional ingredients, I allready have quite a lot more information to put into the spreadsheet, but didn't find a way to verify recipes, yet. I'm reasonably sure it's somewhere in the game files, and not hard coded, so there should be a way to check on non-functional things outside of trying in-game.

I get an warning that some parts of the file (.ods) are unreadable and cannot open.

My suggestion would be for someone to just do a copy and paste into the program of choice. Since there are so many different ways to achieve the same product, example would be Abyssal Stew, most people probably wouldn't bother after getting this a few times, at the most.

I did a cut and paste from your HTML preview and was going to try to see if the products matched between the two lists and then try to compare ingredients but this did not work:
1. The product names are slightly different such as your "'Apple' Cake of Lost Souls' " as opposed to "Cake of the Lost." There are enough differences that I did not see a simple way to work through these differences.
2. Your list had 398 products that used 2 ingredients versus 434 products using 2 ingredients in the other list.
3. In the products using 3 ingredients the same was true except your list had 118 total products while the other list had only 114 but the product names could not easily be aligned as mentioned above.
4. Some of the differences include the location and number of single tick marks such as when associated with the word "Apple."
5. I did not play with ingredients because what one list may call Ingredient 1 the other list might show as Ingredient 2.
Thank your for checking on the Excel import.

I've now added a link to the CSV data (separator used is the semicolon) my scripts generate, so people can have a go at the raw data with their own weapons of choice.

As for your findings:

1. Both, "Cake of the Lost" and "'Apple' Cake of the Lost Souls'" are in the game files. The difference being, that the non-Apple variant doesn't have ingredients listed in the 2.12 (and 2.11) game files, while the Apple one has.
2. That's a difference of 36 products. Quite a lot. I just checked that against my 2.11 game data, but the number didn't change in-between.

I'm beginning to suspect, that /u/ltzSpiffy either used older game files, left out non-working recipies or maybe mixed things up a little with manual edits, instead of having data automatically generated. Also, it is of course entirely possible, that I got something completely wrong -- alas, it all seems to check out.

3. Maybe for above reason ?
4. I'm pulling the names automatically, and don't edit afterwards. For this one, I'd say that I'm reasonably sure, that my tick marks are what the game keeps in its files. Which of course doesn't help the case of being able to compare the lists.
5. That's indeed a problem to which I don't have an easy solution.

Thank you for diving into this, spending time on comparing lists -- very much appreciated.

Suggestions for other data we could try and pull out of the games files are welcome.
@ksj8ak2 - Thank you for this very nice resource, especially the food recipes, that was one new aspect of Beyond I was not keen on. Just the thought of randomly mixing ingredients for years trying to figure out recipes puts me off even bothering.

I also use LibreOffice (dont know why people even buy Microsoft Office anymore) :)

A very useful companion for these two apps;

Recipes? I use this one, very easy to find quickly what you're looking for:

Well, it's not updated for Beyond for these kitchen recipes, but if I wanted to cook I can displace my Honour for some feet to my real kitchen - a horror story as usual :)
