Mentioning this for when future updates seem out of sequence.

Although there initially was a version 5.1.1 release Hello Games has renumbered this to be version 5.0.1.1. The GOG update files still bear the 5.1.1 indication.

There has also been a 5.02 release but that is for some of the consoles.
Version history is:

5.0 -- 2024-07-17
5.0.1 -- 2024-07-19
5.1 -- 2024-07-22
5.1.1 -- 2024-07-23
5.2 -- 2024-07-25 (Playstation only so far, but will come for other plattforms, too)

GoG has trouble keeping up with this speed, so we never got 5.1 and we also lack the patches

There never was a "5.0.1.1"

Check the release log. It clearly shows 5.01.1 although the hyperlink still includes the 5.1.1. The leading 1 is for Worlds Part 1.

https://www.nomanssky.com/release-log/ or https://www.nomanssky.com/2024/07/worlds-part-1-5-1-1/

The current versions (per Hello Games) are 5.01.1 for PC and xbox and 5.02 for PS4/5.

P.S. I had the web pages open when making the original post to ensure that I didn't have any typos. Also deleted a double paste of the specific link to the 5.01.1 changelog.

I'm waiting on 5.1.1 also.
I dont see the point of "renumbering" versions. Thats not something you would ever do. Unless you want to be extra confusing on purpose.

The next version is supposed to be 5.2 for all other plattforms and thats fine.

I have decided against installing 5.x anyway because I have numerous playthroughs going on and I dont want to lose the First Wave exotics that I found so far. Not that any of them is actually that great looking. But still, judging by the internet, they may have reset the First Wave exotics again.

The "Worlds 1" Update is mainly about graphics and I dont care.

Everyone except GOG appears to have been update to the 5.02 version of the game. I am supposed to help a couple other players with something but can't due to version mismatch. So frustrating when they don't get everyone updated within a day or two of other platforms!
According to the official site 5.2 (or if you prefer 5.02 but thats really just a meaningless zero added) is right now only available for Playstation.

https://www.nomanssky.com/news/

There is also no 5.0.1.1 mentioned there anywhere.

They write 5.1.1 as 5.01.1, but again that additional zero is also meaningless.
I'm still waiting for a patch from 5.00.1 to 5.1.1.

I'm not even sure GOG or Hello Games cares about this anymore, and it's making me wish I'd just bought the Steam version instead. At least then I'd be able to use the Twitch drops I collected ages ago then gave up on.

Have you submitted a ticket to GOG for this? They might have overlooked uploading the patch file. I will not copy the old discussions, but GOG has to write this file for each update or patch which had always taken an extra business day or two.
As mentioned above, GoG has skipped a patch, and I dont think Hello Games has patches between multiple versions.

I.e. we would need the patches

5.0.1 -> 5.1
5.1 -> 5.1.1

Exactly!
Last time I went through this, I had to reinstall the game because GOG didn't post the small (in between) patches for the offline installers
Well, the patch from 4.92 to 5.00 is so big, one may just as well download the whole game anew. It hardly needs less space.

And, since the early versions are usually buggy, one may skip to downloading later versions.

So its not really too much of an issue.

Yeah also here because I just noticed this... I'll wait for them to get the correct patches I think.. I've found downloading a new copy can be a bit wonky and resets some things in your save edits etc

I've submitted a ticket, lets see how we go.
