Recently (I think within the last couple of weeks maybe?) , there's been a difference with the way base building works for me. It used to be that, if I built a base into the side of a hill, or a room in a mountain, the game could essentially clear that section of earth when I placed the base component. That's no longer happening, so if I want to build into the side of a mountain, or on a slight incline... or want to build underground, I have to build the room, then tunnel away the dirt inside the base rooms manually.

Is this a global change? Is there some configuration change I flipped on my client that I can't find? It's really kind of annoying behaviour, and very different from what I'm used to...

I'm not seeing that behaviour, and I was building just last night. When I laid down some floor panels, the ground cleared a square section like normal (I was building on a slight incline.

This was on my Steam copy of the game though. Haven't built anything on my GOG copy for a while. That shouldn't make a difference, but just thought I'd note it.

Maybe your 'base terrain edits' are at the limit? There is a circle in building menu on the right side. If this is complete the terrain edits won't be saved anymore as far as I know. Did the terrain come back in old bases, too?

No. Terrain isn't anywhere I've removed it. And I can remove it by hand. I just HAVE to remove it by hand. Want to put a string of small cubes in the dirt? Put in a cube. Switch to the terrain manipulator and tunnel out the dirt so I can see to add a new cube. Add a new cube. Rinse. Repeat. it's maddening.

It also appears to be specific to this saved game. I loaded up others, and they behave normally. But this one does not.

Okay, but what about the 'base terrain edit' limit? What shows this circle in the build menu? (This limit is saved in your savegame...) It's not that you can't remove terrain anymore if you reached the limit. But any further removal will let older edits regrow - afaik.

It's showing more than 12k available (not a lot of bases on this save). I wonder if that number is somehow glitched. I may break out the save editor and tinker a bit. Thanks for that idea.
