ok how does one get back to 1st person view and how does one get into 3rd person view in the space craft...
nevermind got it man a lot has changed .....

Hit X then slide left to Utilities, selecting View toggles it between 1st person and 3rd person.
You have to do it each for on-foot and in-ship, e.g. you can leave ground 1st person and set in-ship to 3rd person.

Took me a while to figure it out too. thankfully once you change it seems to remember.

But they went a bit overboard with 3rd person as even in 1st person it`ll sometimes shove you into 3rd as if to say, "LOOK! LOOOK! 3RD PERSON DON`T YOU LOVE IT???"

Not everyone wanted 3rd person- I certainly didn`t, but I don`t mind others having it as an option, just don`t then shove it on me!

Why couldn`t they have kept the original full (no 3rd`) 1st person (which I much prefer) and just have 3rd person as an option for people who want that?

I am not sure I understood your point. We can switch from 1st to 3rd and back again anytime, right? I'd go so far as to say that defines "optional."
