elghinnfaer: At least the patch came out as a one shot install and no need to run it as several patches in a row then the foundation update, but with that in mind I am very glad I have been keeping a backup of all the old version just in case the patch does not play nice with my hardware or another unexpected problem.
Just a heads up, it sounds like you can submit a ticket to GOG staff requesting the earlier files. I've saved the 1.09.1 installer just in case, but if that hard drive crashed, I'd like those older files.

GOG used to provide access to earlier versions but in going thru my game catalog, it looks like this has been largely done away with. I too wish they'd keep old files up (at least under the 'GOG Downloader Links' on each game page).
Hurray i finally get to try it out for myself. I'm thinking the 'update' is actually more a standalone install, and that might be why many people have been having issues, they probably are installing it over the original game, then various older files get left behind and cause issues?

So i will be installing the Foundation Update in a different place, and keeping the original game just in case this avoids problems, and it will allow me to carry on playing my current save in the old game. Hope that works and i'll report back on how it goes.
I was able to move my old save over to the new game, it showed as under the normal play options. Was nice to not have to start over from scratch as I had accumulated quite a large stash of units and had slots maxed out for everything.

Not I can work on maxing out slots for Freighters, the expense of ship (not Freighters) seems to be extremely elevated from the already expensive prices from past versions, some of the ship I looked at in space stations were well over 100 million units each !!!
