I asked some people on Reddit whether the Steam version of NM supported DualShock 4 button prompts and was told yes. However, that may be possible only because of Steam's Big Picture Mode, or whatever it's called.

Does anyone know, if I purchase NM here instead (which would be preferable), and use a DS4 connected to my PC via USB cable, will the game display on-screen button prompts for the controller, or will it be like most other games, where it shows XB1/360 prompts and I have to try to translate them to DS4 buttons on the fly?

Thanks!

The game has native DS4 support with PS buttons and vibration, even the control scheme shows the DS4.
This game does not seem to support Dxinput at the moment. I'd like to use my old ps2-gamepad as I do in all games. I normally use a Dxinput-Emulator (x360ce). Steam now has it's own solution (custom controller support). How about Gog? I'd prefer to buy the game on GOG but it only supports very few gamepads at the moment so that's out of the question.
Also the game is basically unplayable at the moment with mouse inputs as there is no mouse coursor ingame -- it's almost impossible to aim.

Personally, I play it keyboard only. WASD to move, numpad /789 to shoot

Only 8 directions, but when you need to change direction constantly, I feel it give more precision.
Regardless, I would enjoy generic gamepad support, or 360 pad support at least. I'm still sporting a Rumblepad 2, and not everybody has the knowhow or the money to get Dualshock to work on PC. (if it is still difficlut to get DS to work on PC.)

If it already exists, my apologies.

Edit: Checking out the options, there is controller support for XB1 controllers, but I cannot get my controller to work.
