I am debating whether or not i am going to purchase this game, it looks interesting and i have heard good things about it but i have yet to make a decision, Would you recommend this game and if so why? i have heard that the vanilla version isn't very good but the multilayer and mods make up for this what .would be the "must have " mods to install before playing the first time?
If you enjoy games based on the D&D ruleset then I would definitely recommend NWN. As you've heard others mention, the original campaign is thoroughly mediocre, although the two expansion campaigns (SoU and HotU) are decent enough. Also, something to understand about NWN mods is that you're not actually modifying any of the official campaigns, but rather are loading up entirely new modules to play through (basically providing near-unlimited gameplay, due to the large number of quality modules out there). A good place to start if you go looking for modules would be this thread, as there are quite a few real gems in there. My own recommended order for someone new to NWN is to skip the original campaign, play through SoU and SotU (as these are decent and will give you a good introduction to the game), then jump into whatever user-made modules sound appealing to you.
Yeah, like DarrkPhoenix said there is something for everyone.

In the NWN world we must make a difference between modules and mods though.

Modules are the "maps" and theese can be either the original ones or player made. Also they be multiplayer "maps".

If you like multiplayer, definately but it.

If you don't like multiplayer definately buy it also...there are heaps of player made modules...

...and even "mods" which make the game look a bit different...and mostly better...even though I don't use theese myself...
