It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've been away from NWN for a while, but earlier this week I heard that Beamdog might be considering adding full party control to NWN EE, and that made me want to look at some NWN stuff. I went over to the Neverwinter Vault, and I found that they've completely changed their forums. I don't care for the new look, but I could probably get used to it and be able to tolerate it. The real problem is that the forums now use that godawful infinite scrolling system instead of breaking things up into pages. Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Infinite scrolling is one of the worst things you can do on a website, especially one where people might want to revisit old posts for specific information. "Hmm, I think I'd like to reread that thread from a few months ago. Time to scroll down for hours on end looking for it while wading through a sea of stuff I don't care about and slowing down my browser because it has to have all that stuff loaded at the same time! Oh, and I better make sure I don't accidentally hit the back/forward button or open a link in the same tab, because if I do that and then press the back button, I'll have to start scrolling down all over again to get back to where I was!"

Anyone know if there's a way to make it use pages again?
I'd like to know, too. I share your opinion on infinite scrolling.

I think just about everyone hates infinite scrolling. There's just nothing good about it at all.

And yet, some of the most popular web sites in the world use it. This is why I tremble in fear when large groups of people come together and complain about gog's web site and demand change: there's a good chance that if gog does do a major update, it will end up this way as well. They already sort of do this with the "load more" buttons on the various game/post lists; all that remains is to make it automatic. It's why I can't stand itch.io (quit browsing forever after scrolling down about 20 times), and if gog does it too, I guess I'm really finally done here. Of course I say this knowing there is no alternative, so I guess like all other things wrong with the world, I just have to accept it.

What would be nice would be a site like deslide.clusterfake.net to deal with this kind of web site.

I don't like it either but this is "new fashion". Forums are on departure now. More and more games/webs uses boards now and this infinite scrolling is basically a new standard. Another standard is low or none option to find old threads. Many boards are designed as fire&forget, especially there where there are lots of new posts created - and this new style of boards actually encourage/force users to create new threads because of that...

I think it has to do something with facebook as they kinda invented this crap.

All and all, I really hope this is just another blind alley.

That's the new culture, windly, steam-like, in library they no longer buy books, they hire services to an editor then we must download timed drmed files on a tablet.

NOOOOOoooooooooOOOOoooooo My Precious Books ;/
And ironically, since this thread was started, the entire GOG site has had a makeover and is now a hideous scrolling monstrosity... :D

Great, just make it even harder for people to get information. Are you just screwed if you can't afford a tablet, then? And now that I think about it, that whole thing is just absurd on its face. If they're just computer files, they could give them to everyone, permanently. Instead they impose artificial scarcity. I thought the whole point of a library was to be a place where everyone could get information. Rental periods made sense when you're talking about books that are limited in supply, but not for data that can be copied to a hard drive in a few seconds/minutes and stay there forever.

Unfortunately, I have no aptitude for tech stuff whatsoever. I can barely figure out what parts to get when I need to upgrade my PC for gaming.

What parts? The store and forums still seem to use pagination. I admit I don't come to the site very often for anything except buying or downloading stuff I've bought, so maybe I just haven't gone to the affected parts yet.
