So I downloaded the game through the GOG Downloader, finished downloading it, and (for whatever reason) can NOT install it. The installer verifies the file integrity, verifies the file directory I want to install the game into, and I press the Install button. EVERY TIME, I get this error:

An error occured while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition\nwserver.exe

MoveFile failed: code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.

I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit. I've looked up every support article I could, tried using it by running on XP compatability, running as Administrator, and turned off the UAC. Why won't this game work and how can I fix it?

Try disabling your antivirus - it may be deleting temporary files during the install and cause this error.

I've been trying to figure out how to, but iolo did not make how to enable/disable System Shield very intuitive, which is very frustrating. Part of me doesn't want to uninstall my entire System Mechanic Professional, but that may be what I need to do to get this to work. *le sigh*

Is it possible to install it directly to C drive rather than programs (x86) ??

NWN was designed before the windows architecture changed and works better from C drive.

As Shia_luck suggests, try installing into a folder outside of Program Files, such as c:\games. A lot easier that way :)

Otherwise, you can usually use MSCONFIG to stop particular programs loading :

http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_win7.html

Under the Startup tab look for anything that might be applicable eg 'Iolo', 'System Mechanic', 'Active care', etc and uncheck the box(es).

Click Apply and OK, then reboot - make sure you're not connected to the internet when you
do. If there's no Mechanic running in the background, try installing the game again.

When you're finished (hopefully with NWN installed), reenable the appropriate box(es) in MSCONFIG and reboot.

Well,eventually I figured out how to disable the Antivirus, and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks to Kezardin for the advice!

I downloaded the game nwn2. When I opened the file: setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6 I got the following message: Installer needs the next part (.BIN) file
Please specify the location of part 5.

Turning off the antivirus did not help.

Now what?

The download consists of 6 files:

setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6.exe
setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6-1.bin
setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6-2.bin
setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6-3.bin
setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6-4.bin
setup_nwn2_complete_2.1.0.6-5.bin

You need all of them to install the game.

Wherever you downloaded them to. Check your browser's options to where downloads are stored.

Yep, I've tried every solution with the GOG downloader stated on the forums, but it refuses to connect. I guess I will not get my DnD fix, and I might have to get a refund. Sad.

So have you tried downloading outside gog downloader mode?
It's usually convenient, but if it doesn't work you can download the files with browser.
To me, gog shows the following downloads:

Windows installer, English (part 1 of 6) 1 MB 2.1.0
Windows installer, English (part 2 of 6) 1.5 GB 2.1.0
Windows installer, English (part 3 of 6) 1.5 GB 2.1.0
Windows installer, English (part 4 of 6) 1.5 GB 2.1.0
Windows installer, English (part 5 of 6) 1.5 GB 2.1.0
Windows installer, English (part 6 of 6) 1.1 GB 2.1.0
Universal update (2.0.1 -> 2.1.0) 51 MB

If your installer says you are missing one of the parts,
it's probably right and you should just go (re)download the missing bit.
