I'm in luskan, have parted ways with Tomi temporarily. Now when I want to rehire him he says he's with someone else.

Game version: diamond 1.69
Have contract in inventory
Have played exclusively on single player
Have tried to reset him through debug mode as described on bioware forum. (setting the int variable henhired to 0 or false, neither works.)

Does anyone know of any fix aside from saying goodbye to my progress?
Is this going to be a permanent bug, or will it reset once I enter chapter 3?

What you need to do:
- Before doing anything else, be sure to make a backup save (new save, not a quicksave). This will give you a save to go back to if something goes wrong.
- Now drop the contract they gave you (the item they gave you when you hired them). You'll get a new one when you rehire them.
- Go into regular "talk-mode" and type the following console commands:
(make sure you type the following carefully. It's case-sensitive)

To start debug mode you would type:
##DebugMode 1

Then type this to reset the henchman:
##dm_setvarint NW_L_HENHIRED FALSE
target hechman,

and turn off debugmode:
##DebugMode 0

You should be able to rehire the henchman now.

Yes, I have tried this. The "henhired" method does not work. No combination of dropping the contract and setting the variable to false or 0 results in him joining me. He keeps insisting he's with someone else. Maybe it's because I am in the city of Luskan and at the end of the chapter where henchmen can't be hired.

Luckily starting chapter 3 did resolve it, as it opens up a new module.
