Hey, I'm trying to play ADoR, but I can't get past the opening cut scene. After my guards etc. get killed, I run into another room, the enemy soldiers follow, and then we all just stand there. Like, forever.

Any ideas? Windows 7, if that matters.

This is the first user-made module I've tried to install; maybe I did it wrong.

Have you given it another try?

Also, user made modules are sometimes very picky about other installed mods,
do you have anything in your "override" folder?

And the usuals, the game is not on "programs" folder? You're running it as administrator?
Well, after half a dozen tries it finally worked. Just for the heck of it, I tried it once more and it hung up again. But at least I can play it now.

No idea what the problem was. Thanks anyway.
I would still think there is something wrong with your installation.
That mod is very stable.
Keep multiple saves.
There's bound to be more triggers that just won't trigger and you may need to go to an older save.

I know I'm late to the party, but sometimes ADwR has an issue in the beginning area if your graphics settings are too high. There's a lot of custom scripts and triggers in the module (the fact that all of it was done by an amateur and is still better than the stock campaigns just blows me away), and with high graphics settings the game is trying to do too damn much at once.

My friend's computer wasn't terribly powerful (powerful enough to run NWN on max though) and it kept having this problem. I fixed it by lowering the graphics as much as possible (lowest resolution, no shadow casting lights, etc.) and it worked fine. He got past the attempted execution, and when he got to the Bear Pit, we raised the graphics again.

Listen to Jarmo. Jarmo knows what he's talking about. Multiple saves are essential to your ADwR experience. My main gripe with the module is the number of bugs, and saving often will help prevent losing progress. I recommend saving when you change locations, saving before you talk to NPCs (always a good practice), and saving before turning in quests. Multiple saves can feel like clutter, but you'll regret it if you don't. Despite the bugs, ADwR is still amazing.

Hopefully this helps anyone in the future. Also, here's a link to the ADwR wiki, which has technical help and a walkthrough: A Dance with Rogues Wiki
