I was planning on playing through Shadows of Undrentide and i thought it be fun playing as Bard and follow it up for Hordes of Underdark. I don't mind going all out on the whole Min-max thing since it could be alot of fun and thus i was wondering if anyone knew any builds or something for it? I tried searching internet for builds but all i found was mostly deadlinks and 404's

You need to have some more idea where you want to go. There are more than a thousand combos available.

You can just have a couple of Bard Levels to Qualify for Red Dragon Disciple, or Arcane Archer.

Or you can have high bard levels to cast all bard spells and back by some fighter levels to melee better, and/or some cleric levels to use Charaisma for Divine abilities.

Etc...
I'm fond of the "Bard in Plate" build. Pre-epic it would be something like 16 Bard/4 Fighter. Overall it would be something like 25 Bard/5 Fighter/10 RDD. You get everything from Lasting Inspiration to RDD stat boosts to all four attacks and Epic Weapon Specialization. The goal is high strength and 16 charisma (needed for level 6 spell casting). Be in Full Plate, Tower Shield, and a 1H weapon with Still Spell. Your goal is to basically be a Fighter who can buff himself prior to combat (or in combat with still spell), who can use Bard Song to buff himself (and his party) further, and who can use Curse Song to debuff enemies. The Bard Song/Curse Song Combo winds up being something like +7 AB, +7 AC, +2 damage at level 16 Bard and beyond (enemies lose 2 AB and 5 AC, you gain 5 AC and 2 AB and 2 damage).

If you want me to spell out a build I can, but hopefully that gets you on the right track.

You're right, i should probably have specified something considering the amount of builds and combinations in this game. Guess i was just thinking about something interesting in general at the time.

The few links i found that didn't end up in 404 did suggest something with RDD so i thought that would be a good start to play with. Something with Bard/RDD/Weapon master? Seemed pretty cool to me at first view. If you had any builds lying around nearby that you'd think work well on SoU and then SoH that would be very helpful!

Bard/RDD/WM is going to be too starved for feats to develop fast enough, certainly not within SoU's 1-13ish range and probably not until the end of HotU. It will sacrifice a great deal of song and casting potential for the sake of enhanced criticals with a weapon list that is far from ideal to take full advantage.

I agree with MM's suggestion for a neophyte bardic experience. Your only limitation will be trying to cast Ice Storms
and Mass Haste in combat that cannot be stilled. C'est la vie! Otherwise, it's a solid combo for both solo and party play.

Ok! It sounds like Bard/Fighter is the way to go then for SoU and HoU. Any ideas on how to build it with stats/feats/race/that stuff?

Posting without skill selections detailed?! There's a guy on the nwnecbguild that'd totally lay into you.

Jk...looks like a fun build :-)

I know of who you speaketh. Was figuring he'd fill in the missing schedule once it was thoroughly tested and confirmed to be worthy of Guild status. Wouldn't want to ruin all the fun of figuring this stuff out for an aspiring builder, eh?
some other ideas, with multiclassing..

1st rogue level for extra skill points to boost your bards skills even further

1 cleric level 1st, getting domains that will boost your bards basic spell ability. In NWN1 animal (boosts summons +1) and healing (boosts bards healing spells) is a great class to pick 1 level from to make your bard spells even better, plus a few extras. In NWN2 domains that favor what type of bard your making. A melee bard can grab some fighting domains (earth, etc) , an archer different ones, etc.

in nwn1 I usually like a 1/1/18 rogue/cleric/bard type, basically a bard with extras. Has extra skills which make up for the 2 levels of non-bard taken, plus the cleric domain gives his spells a boost, also making up for the level of non-bard taken.
