SacredPath: This. On my desktop machine (Win8), I'm having the same problem with NWN1 (not 2!). All modules are running pretty slowly. I have the same problem with Divine Divinity, incidentally. I was advised that both games don't take well to multiple processors, but fixing that didn't solve the problem. Both are also 32bit processes, is that the root of the problem?
I run NWN as a 32 process on my 64 systems without any issues.

1. Did you apply the 1.69 critical rebuild (I don't care if GoG claims it is fully patched)?

2. Are you running it as admin?

3. Are you running it in comparability mode?

4. Did you disable desktop composition?

Any or all of those may help.

1. Yes, didn't change anything

2. Yes

3. I did this and it helped quite a bit, at least with the official campaigns. Still pretty laggy for such an old game (and with all the bells and whistles disabled!). Also note that DivDiv starts in compatibility mode as default.

4. I tried to do that according to this guide http://superuser.com/questions/581673/disable-desktop-composition-in-windows-8-force-it but I got the black screen that I wasn't supposed to get :(

Try disabling UAC and any malware or virus detection software, temporarily at least to test things. IIRC OpenGL version 9.1 is the best to use, but you might check other tech problem topics to make sure. The only other thing I can think of is how your current vcard driver supports OpenGL. If there is some control software for it installed, you may need to do some experimenting to get the FPS that is adequate without hampering the performance of other games you have loaded.
