There are only two likely possibilities.

1: GoG Galaxy is messing with save directory. Make sure it isn't running at all when playing NWN. I don't use Galaxy, but I do notice that most people save issues appear to be using it.

2: User error. You are likely losing track of saves.


I have played NWN extensively since it's release in 2003. I have never lost a save game in >1000 hours of play.


Some detail in how NWN saves work:

Each Save gets it's own directory based on the name you supply.

NWN NEVER deletes your saves. It will keep adding saves till you fill your disk.

NWN can only save exactly where you are at the exact moment you save.

So on it's own NWN can't lose your saves.

Suggestions:

Use meaningful save names. This will make it more likely you recover the same you are looking for. Check the attached image. Some sample names I used are "SoU Begin", "SoU End Chap 1". I have returned to the saves years later. They don't get deleted, they are still there. I probably have archived saves that are decade old or more.

Look in your save directory to see what is actually going on.
