Many years ago, I helped with a PW called Abyss404. I later partnered up with an Abyss404 DM (DM Selena) to build our own PW (Ariochus).
Ariochus grew so full of content and areas that we hit the limits of what the NWN engine could handle in every way. I (The programmer) could not add a single Const Var without crashing the engine. Our 400+ areas had red-lined the engines ability to load and parse location info.
We had more custom systems, models, and textures that any PW I have yet found.
Now, after a long hiatus, we have returned and are considering building a new PW.
I have solved the problem of limited variables and module size via a combination of NWNX plugins and the PRC (Big kudos to the PRC team, btw. Amazing work.)
The current plan is to begin with CEP 2.4, PRC 3.5rb, all of the CTP, and all of my old systems to handle the best AI and ecology related content that NWN will likely ever see.
I am curious though:
How many people here are role-players, or would be willing to try playing in an extremely customized PW which required CEP, PRC, and the CTP haks? Is that asking too much, or are these haks common enough that most players already have them downloaded?
On a related note:
What kinds of systems/qualities do you look for in a RP PW?
We intend to build a large and successful PW for dedicated RP enthusiasts. It will be a lot easier with community feedback now, so that it can be built in to the engine at the ground level.
So, let's list what we think would make a good server, or just things that you think would be cool in a PW. If nothing else, others can use this list as reference as well.
I am one of the best programmers in the NWN community. There is very little that I cannot do with the engine. So, feel free to add anything to the list; even if it has never been done or someone else told you that it was impossible. When it's possible, I'll upload my systems to the NWN Vault for others to use.
