Hey guys, I was thinking about making an Elf assassin with ranger and SD as prereqs - ranger because I get a crapload of free feats I was gonna use anyway, and SD because I was always a fan of backstabbers in previous bioware games.

So I was thinking what the best feat selection was. Obviously, 10 go in Great Dex. Apart from that, Weapon Finesse, Dodge+Mobility (only for SD). Now, I realize, in order to trigger Death attack paralysis, I need to have a better initiative than the enemy, so it makes sense to get improved and superior initiative. But what about blooded? I am not sure if +2 is really enough to warrant it in favor of something else (especially because Im not a human to get that extra feat)?

As for weapons, I was just thinking to go with something basic, like short sword/daggers, the whole kukri thing seems way out of my reach.

Anyway, appreciate any suggestions for those experienced in the class.

Thanks
Unfortunately the initiative stuff is not of any mechanical use because unlike PnP, NWN is real time. Creatures use their own combat round timers in NWN starting on the exact milisecond they initiated combat. If you open combat at range, you fire; if the target does not perceive, you attack; initiative is already won, in effect.

At least it means you have a few extra feats to juggle around. Unless you want blooded as a roleplay/background feat.

In what setting?

OC or SoU or other pre epic settings? IMO dex fighters suck at pre-epic. You will be fighting undead immune to your sneak attack and with damage reduction, it will be Very Tedious at best.

Strength and bigger, more damaging weapon options makes the low levels so much more playable.
Well I played through SoU with an 8-Str character that pretty much exclusively used traps. Very slow. It wasn't tedious at all, though. It was tricky, interesting, and felt more like a pen-and-paper session than a video game.

If you want backup from undead specifically, to avoid POSSIBLE tedium, bring a companion. I'll assume this is NWN1 and not 2, since with 2 you have to bring your party along anyway.

I think most people would consider needing to resort to setting up traps, and luring enemies, through them to kill them to be tedious as hell, and drag things out much longer.

Dragging things out and making the longer/slower, is nearly the definition of Tedious:

tedious
ADJECTIVE
Too long, slow, or dull; tiresome or monotonous.

From what I understood, when Death attacks are concerned, you have to win the initiative in order to roll for the Paralysis effect.

I plan to just beat all 3 official campaigns in order. I beat the first OC a long long time ago but I dont recall Udead being THAT dominant.

Anyway the word I used was slow. Slow has its own definition. I'm sure you can find it on your site breh
