For me the game throws up this error about seven times, any time it loads a map. This means every time that an exit door is used on any map. The game is unplayable in fullscreen mode, because the errors are 'pop-unders', and the game must be minimized to interact with them.

The game is technically playable in windowed mode, because the error messages can be clicked, but as I've said, it happens at every transition between maps; about seven or so... sometimes more/ sometimes less.

After all error messages are clicked through, the game continues to load just fine; until the next map transition or until the next time I save the game.

Did you try installing the game on a different drive? Especially try to avoid installing it in the Program Files folder. Do you have a virtual drive on your computer? If so then try to disable and uninstall the software which you use to create it. Also it might be a good idea to run the game as an administrator and try the compatibility mode.

If neither of these help, you can try some registry editing:

1. Click Start and Run.
2. Type "regedit".
3. Expand these trees: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control.
4. Click on Windows.
5. Double click on the ErrorMode which you can see on the right side of the window.
6. Change the value data to 2 and click ok.
7. Reboot and check if it helped.

Thank you for the option, but a game (any game, and certainly this one) is not worth making major system changes, or disabling error reporting; but indeed thanks, I appreciate the response.

The game itself needs fixing. It works just fine before and after its complaint of finding no disk... that can't be right behavior.

It is the case that the game is accessed via junction, —and this could very likely be the issue—, but then it is the only game (among many dozens installed) that have any trouble finding files. The problem is with the game; it needs fixed.

This is a recent release—in fact that's the point, to update the game to work smoothly on modern versions of Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Let's hope that some patch will correct this error, however it was occurring also in the original version. It's a problem reported only by a small minority, so there's a risk that Beamdog won't bother with it. Meanwhile you can report it directly to them: https://beamdog.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
