It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Just right click on the .exe and run in into Windows XP compatibility mode. It worked for me.

olnorton: If it is just the splash screens (because your drivers don't support openGL)
You can edit your nwn.ini & add Disable Intro Movies=1 under [Display Options]
This actually fixed the no launching problem for me (and using winxp compatibility for my win7 64 bit

slymasks: I did the disabling movie intros, still crashes.
I also did the atioglxx and copied it to my NWN folder. Still crashes.

It's already directly in the C file, if that's what you mean.
Have you tried renaming the 'nwmain.exe' file to something else such as 'new_nwmain.exe' as suggested in this stickied article from the support boards here at GOG.com?

I know it sounds silly and overly simple to the point that it shouldn't help. But when everything else failed for me, this actually solved the problem perfectly. Just rename the nwmain.exe file to anything else and then launch it. The reason it works is explained in that article i linked just above. And you're right it is ATi GFX driver related. I hope it works for you too. :)

P.S. I'm also on Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit with a Radeon 6950 HD.

In my experience, doing a critical rebuild(full patching), running in windows XP compatibility mode(SP3) and setting the process affinity to zero(task manager > process) pretty much fixed all issues every time.

slymasks: Alright. I just purchased this game, got it all installed, etc.
Every time I try to launch it, I get the "Neverwinter Nights has stopped working". That's it. Don't get anything else, it just won't load up.

I have windows 7, I downloaded it with the GOG downloader, it installed perfectly fine.

More details: I get the 'not working' message right after the splash screen. I ran the critical update to see if that helped, nothing. I installed without shortcuts and directly onto the C drive, nothing.
I have same problem, i am not programator, i cant fix it, so i rly want my money back....

GOG offers a money back guarantee.

I am a bit late to the party, but I'm having this problem right now, too (Win 7, Radeon 7660). Dunno how i solved it the last times, BUT: the graphic card driver is at fault here. Dunno if another version of it works better.

WHAT works is: starting the game from ubuntu (they use another driver, which works flawlessly (I'm using 16.04 + wine). Helped with a couple of other games which had the same issue, too).

You can install ubuntu alongside windows, or make a bootable stick. Hope this helps someone!
Lol, thought this was a new post and I was confused why you didn't try the EE to see if that worked better. But now I see that the OG posts where from 2013.
