Running Windows 10 and the game crashes at launch and Windows says that it is looking for a solution and will advise.
Are you running it as an administrator or in compatibility mode?
Are you running from galaxy? If not, you can't run the game from the launcher after windows xp. You have to run the main game directly from its executable. I think it's nwn.exe or nwnmain.exe or something like that. Run as admin and you should be fine.

Oh, also, install it outside of protected folder space (no my documents, I'd keep it out of program files too).

Should it be in compatibility mode for Windows XP?

I'm getting crash on start with windows 7 despite following these tips.
I just encountered this problem myself. Go to the game's folder and set nwmain.exe to compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. Then you can run it as normal, at least on Windows 7. 10 might be different. Note that I first ran it from the game folder after enabling compatibility, which probably doesn't matter, but might.

I can confirm that it will work with these settings in 10.

As others stated you have to run nwmain.exe in compatibility mode for Win XP SP3. This usually solves the problem. If not, you can try here. If you still have problems let us know if we can help or you can always contact GOG support.

Thanks so much for your helpful reply. For some odd reason, I am not finding the .exe file .... I will try some more clever ways to search for it besides the usual windows/microsoft search windows. xo

Did you managed to find it? The file is called nwmain, it's located in the game folder.

Thank you, PainOfSalvation,
In my game folder, NeverWinter is 'not there' at all! even though I uninstalled and reinstalled just now. GoG immediately confirmed the game is installed, as it does with other games.
So I looked for GoG in the PC C-folder files and even GoG does not show up.
I am going to find the way to open 'hidden' files in Windows 10 now.
Maybe both or either will show up there!
Thanks for your willingness to reply to my message!

Showing all hidden files helped me to find it after some rabbit holes ;-)
However, once I attempted to open as adminstrator, I still get a runtime error .
So interestingly, Windows 10 now has a compatibility troubleshooter.
This is the setting that worked on testing....:via the compatibility troubleshooter:
"Windows compatibiity mode: Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)"
Perhaps I should make a new post to share this?

Again, my sincere gratitude for your support!

Try to change compatibility mode to WinXP SP3 and run the exe.
