So bought and installed NWN Diamond but the audio, movies and graphics keep skipping and being choppy. Also when the audio starts skipping the movies and graphics just stand still. It's like in the good old days when if a cd had too many scratches.

Google found some solutions but they were from 5-10 years ago. Also, I tried a couple to the best of my ability and they didn't work.

So, has anyone else experienced this more recently or do you have any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

Thanks.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and:
Running Win 7 professional 32-bit, Intel Core i5, 3.20GHz.
NIVIDIA Quadro FX 580 (<- prime suspect, but it runs other newer games fine. :/ )

Newer games, and others, don't have the buggy, hacky non-standard NWN OpenGL from Bioware. It's usually newer hardware and drivers that choke, though. Have you tried reducing your sound output frequency in advanced control panel? Put it at something like 16 bit 44100Hz, see how that goes.

Well, I have now. Unfortunately had no effect.

EDIT: Problem has been solved by messing about with the "CPU Affinity" and "Client CPU Affinity" settings. As mentioned in the NWNv169 text file. As well as switching "Safemovies=0" to "Safemovies=1".

Mentioning in case someone else has similar problems, this stuff is worth a try. Can't believe it wasn't my first instinct...
