Wanted to ask here maybe some results may pop up; I have been trying for months to get NWN:Diamond Edition to properly work. Here is what happens: The game starts as normal, when I try to join a server it will often load me into the first area without problems, but then as I transition to the next area it will take an excruciatingly long time to load (12-15 minutes), and then when transitioning into the next area the game just straight up crashes. These problems happen both in multiplayer and single player I have tried everything under the sun and I cannot get this thing to work...

I have tried lowering all graphics settings to minimum, I have tried compatibility mode and running as an administrator, I have tried NWNCX, Shiny Water was never enabled to begin with, I have tried windowed mode, I have tried reinstalling the game.... twice, I have factor reset the computer and tried a fresh install and still no luck, I have tried the HoTU critical rebuild, and finally... I have tried to play the game on my Desktop computer and get the same issues.

I'm at my wits end with this thing. Not all servers have moved to EE and so I need Diamond to function so I can play on these other servers. I would appreciate any insight on this problem and potential solutions.

You need to supply detailed computer specs.

I have been playing this game since it came out on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows 7 and Windows 10, on AMD Athlons, Intel Pentiums, with AMD and NVIdia GPUs.

I have never had issues like you describe. I current have a 10+ year old CPU and GPU and my load times and transitions are short seconds (though I have upgraded storage with an SSD).

Not exactly very impressive hardware; but it's only very recently I've been having problems. I stopped playing Diamond after EE came out but last I remembered a Win 10 patch did make the game impossible to play for some reason I don't remember if it was this issue but I remember having to roll back my computers updates every couple of days just to play NWN. That being said right now I have the crazy issue I described.

In multiple older games I play and follow on these forums, Having an Intel integrated "GPU" seem to be the largest common denominator with problems.

I don't think the GPU is the issue. I have been playing this version of the game for years on the same computers with no trouble at all. These same computers including the one I gave the specs for runs plenty of old games many of which are far older than NWN. This issue is a new one that has only recently been occurring. My computer can run the enhanced edition of the game flawlessly as well.

Have you tried installing the game again? But without using Galaxy or any kinds of mods.

I have reinstalled it before, and I have reinstalled it without any kind of mods. I will try it without galaxy and post results.

**EDIT/UPDATE**
Unfortunately trying to install without GOG Galaxy did not solve the problem. I was hopeful it would :(

The enhanced version re-writes the GPU path, and uses a newer version of OpenGL (3.0 vs 1.2)

1.2 OGL is Ancient and less likely work is done ensuring this is up to par.

IMO it's most likely a change in GPU drivers. You could try finding different drivers for you Intel IGPU.

I can get different drivers for my GPU? How would I go about doing that? Maybe I should get NVIDIA Drivers???

I'm not sure if this might help since it's linked to a completely separate issue, but the NWN Toolset has a major conflict with recent nVidia drivers where the Toolset will immediately crash whenever you open an area. There is workaround whereby you need to go into the nVidia Control Panel, and under Global Settings, change the "Threaded Optimization" variable to "Off". I just thought I'd mention this on the off chance that your issue is somehow linked to this one.

Trying this now we will let you know how it goes.

**EDIT** We're all fixed! It's finally working!! Thank you so much! Would you be kind enough to let me know which one I need for my laptop as well? I don't know it's specs off hand or what kind of PC it is but it suffered the exact same issue.

You probably should have marked PeterScott's post as the solution, since he was the one who told you what the problem was. Maybe hit the + sign for each of his posts.
