Hello,

I have an issue that NWN1 crashes on startup without any reason. Finally got it to work somehow (randomly clicked here and there in the settings app), I created my character, started playing.

Then I made the mistake to turn on "high res fonts" in the hope I can actually read what's on the screen. Well, the game froze and it does not start since then :(

I even edited the .ini file manually to turn off large fonts, didn't help. Now I have no idea what to do :D

I have an AMD CPU with an AMD graphics card. I read somewhere on the forums that we might need some old dll to be able to run the game properly on AMD cards, but can't find the dll and the download links there already expired (and now I can't even find the topic :D ).

Anyone has any ideas what should I do?

Well, you can try simple reinstall.

Then take a look at this site, there are some option how to deal with ATI cards problems. I know some of it helped me back when I had a ton of troubles with NWN and was using ATI card.
Also try the simple thing of renaming the nwnmain.exe to something else (anything really and then just run the game through it). It is really strange but it sometimes helps. Don't ask me why, though. :-)
If nothing works, try to read through this thread. You could find something that helps there, I remember I did.

Thank you. Googled a lot for the appropriate driver .dll, but placing that to the NW directory just caused NeverWinter silently fail to start. So that's that.

However, at the same time, making a copy or nwmain.exe did the trick, it seems to be working now. Funny and sad at the same time :)

I'll test further, but I hope it works. Thanks :)

Strange & confirmend... haven't played the game yet - but at least it starts under Win7 with an Athlon and an AMD/Radeon whence the file is renamed....
