Anyone know why in the world the game makes these two mutually exclusive? If someone knows a better place to ask this question just let me know lol.

All "combat modes" are mutually exclusive. I suppose it's just something built into the engine. It's unfortunate, as the Monk needs all the help he can get to increase his damage output.
From the descriptions of them I would expect them to be mutually exclusive.

Flurry Of Blows = lots of quick attacks, Power Attack = powerful BUT UNGAINLY attacks. You can't be quick and ungainly.

Why not? If you take the stacking accuracy penalty, why shouldn't you be able to hit both quickly and with overwhelming power?

By pen and paper rules power attack and flurry of blows do stack.
