Hello everyone!

So I just started Kingmaker. When I saw the main villain for the first time, I thought "oh, so it's an illithid". I said that because it looks like an illithid. I'm not trying to be cute. If you look at the official artwork, you can sort of see tentacles coming out from beneath the mask.

I stopped playing after I died. A little later I checked out the Kingmaker expansion on wikipedia, and the article said the villain turns out to be an illithid.

So...was that supposed to be a surprise? Because I knew that the moment I laid eyes on him. Is it like Throne of Bhaal where the main villain is supposed to be a twist, but instead it's just really obvious? Or is the wikipedia page worded poorly?

nope, is not a BIG SURPRISE. ,Remember that the Kingmaker is technically not Faerun (neither D&D), so although is a Illitihd design can be another creature using the skin.
