I've been playing Neverwinter Night Diamond Edition with some friends lately (having had an old disc copy for myself I bought two copies off of GoG for them) and there's a bit of a problem. Of the three of us only one (which is not me) can actually host games where everyone can connect. Our primary host, however, cannot get past the authentication for Infinite Dungeons. This is odd as both I and my other friend who cannot host can get past it in short order. We've tried multiple times on multiple days to try and run it but it keeps getting stuck on authenticating. Is there potentially anything we can do to facilitate this or is it just a crap shoot? If we somehow get another person to host would they be able to possibly join even if they can't host it?

Whatever help I can get would be appreciated.

While I can't help you with regards to Infinite Dungeons authentication, I can help you with hosting. In order to host a game of NWN you must configure your router to enable port forwarding. The exact process differs from one router to the next, but the instructions are fairly easy to find (just google "port forwarding" plus your router's make/model). The port used by the game is 5121.

Adding to Darvin answer, if everyone inside of your friend network can connect (That is, everyone on the same Wi-fi) then the problem is only Router firewall. If even there, you can't connect, maybe are the Cd-keys or your friend PC firewall.

Make sure they don't have their hosts file edited for Skywing's server list.

Yeah, I had done that edit myself and was having trouble...but they never did it. It's part of why this is so confusing.

What CD key is your friend using? Is it the default one that's not unique?
