Could someone explain how the attack bonus on ranged attacks works. Unlike melee attacks, the attack bonus seems to fluctuate when using ranged attacks, and I don’t understand what the variable is.
In the image you can see the character makes a number of ranged attacks with a long bow. The attack bonus this time range from (+3) which is what I would expect too (-1) which makes sense for a range attack at close range without point blank shot feat.
(Attack Bonus) 3 – 4 (close range penalty) = AB -1
I understand that you get a (-4) penalty when using ranged attacks at close range. So that should mean my attack bonus is (-1). But the attacks before last had a bonus of (0) and before that it was (+3) and (+2)
What’s the variable that accounts for this spread?
