Just in case this proves helpful --

If, like me, you are a laptop user and having trouble with NWN's resolution settings, try setting your Nvidia control panel to the following:

1. Display --> Adjust desktop size and position
2. click the box that says "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs"

You should now be able to set the resolution in-game (rather than having to do so by tweaking the nwn.ini file, which for me did nothing anyway.)

For me, the problem was that the game would *only* run in my native 1920x1080 resolution, which meant the whole game was reduced to a small box in the middle of the screen -- way too tiny to play this way.

This way, you can set your res. in-game to 800x600. Yes, it's a very low resolution, but at least it takes up most of the screen now. YMMV.
This is the only way I can run it "fullscreen" too. Except I use a custom resolution of 1066x600 (same 16:9 aspect as native), set in the control panel first.

(Unfortunately I have no idea what the equivalent method is for other graphics cards)
After trying everything i could find on these forums and others on the internet to play fullscreen on resolutions bigger than 800x600 without any result i finally found what was causing my NWN installation to only work at 800x600 with black borders on my 1366x768 netbook (HP Pavillion DM1 = AMD E-350 processor) and now i can set it to the max resolution that my netbook support.

The problem is that the NWN.ini file sets the lcd refresh rate to 60hz when most netbook LCDs work at 59hz or 50hz, so the game is unable to apply the 60hz refresh rate and defaults to working at 800x600. To solve this issue, access the windows control panel and find inside the video settings (inside advanced configs) the actual refresh rate of your lcd and change NWN.ini to your correct refresh rate, also set your resolution manually on NWN.ini to your lcd max and the game will now play on full screen (note that the videos and start menu still remain at 800x600, but the game itself plays at the resolution set at the nwn.ini).

I am currently playing NWN in 1366x768 on my netbook withou any issues (mine had a 59hz refresh rate).
