This problem came up in Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition:
A buddy and are trying to connect to each others' servers, but when we attempt this error comes up:

"The game server that you are connecting to was unable to verify your password. The game server has opted to not allow players to join unless their password can be verified. Please try again later."

We have tried setting up standard online games and also tried using a program called Hamachi to set up a LAN game. Both cases we got the same problem when attempting to connect to the server by simply giving each others' IP. We tried setting up servers with and without passwords for entry. No matter what this error always pops up saying it cannot verify. Please help.
Btw, we already got our CD keys from GoG (very quickly might I add) and put them in which solved a previous problem.

Come on guys, just throw something out there for us to try.

Try bypassing the account authentication:
You have to edit the local "Hosts" file.
It is located here: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc (Win 7 32bits)
The file is supposed to be without any extensions.
You might have to run the explorer as administrator to be allowed to open and change the hosts file.
- make a backup copy
- open the "hosts" file with notepad
- add these two lines:

127.0.0.1 nwmaster.bioware.com
127.0.0.1 nwnauth.kr.infogrames.com

- the lines must look exactly as above. No character can be before 127.0.0.1
- press Ctrl+S in notepad to save the file
- check that there's only a "hosts" file and no "hosts.txt" (in case, delete the "hosts" and rename the "hosts.txt" to "hosts")

Same issue, seems to happen at random since at some point it may let us join each other in only one direction just fine, but then not on the next game session of the day.

Bumping it up to bring attention to it.
Hmmm... I recently set up two computers on a local LAN (no internet at the time); it still demands password per user, however when i tried it, it didn't give any issues to local LAN games (once firewalls were accounted for).

Although that is more how you set up the server...
