From everything I heard in the Twitch stream - all the stuff you listed above is included with the "deluxe" edition. Quite how much more than the standard version that is, I do not know.

Here is what their Deluxe versions look like. Pretty damn expensive too. Their release day discunt tend to be 10 percent off.

In this case it will be 40 bucks for the game and all the extras that used to be included with the classic.....The price of that is 10 bucks right now. Standard price.

You are trying really hard to do damage-control on behalf of Beamdog. I hope they are paying you some money for this.

It's not ideal I admit, but it is one of my favourite games of all time so I am biased towards it instantly.

Believe what you want, I honestly do not care - but the very notion that someone passionate about a game they love is instantly in league with the developers is a tired trope and just goes to show that you are the kind of person that likes to attack people to make themselves feel better.

It's clear that you are not interested in what they are doing and that's fine, but it would be nice to have a cordial conversation without it turning into the fanboys vs haters crap.

I am torn on this subject myself, glad to hear that they want to improve this gem, but afraid that they will just try to scam us (again?<<).
To be fair, in the old days this would have been considered a patch, just a simple freaking patch. And now? Am I right?
So I do tend to go more with the notion presented by Stig, just out of this reason.

First you tried to claim that Beamdog would not be selling the soundtracks separately, and all that - like they did every time before. That is a desperate attempt at damage-control if I ever saw it. "But, but, but they will be nice now. They have a different business model!" No they didn't and every indication suggested otherwise.

Then you try to spam their deluxe version as if that is some sort of fantastic deal. Beamdog being such a great bunch of people that allows the fans to buy NWN and all the extras for 30 dollars more than it costs now.


If you were passionate about your "favorite game" you wouldn't be cheering for the fact that it is being removed from the stores and getting replaced by a slightly modified one that costs 3 times more.

Nobody is afraid of being scammed. The issue is that a classic rpg, yet again is being hijacked by Beamdog, and they are removing the original from the stores to make sure only their version is the one that sells. Sells for 3 times more + extras, I might add.

This is the 5th time they do this. And every single time a Beamdog emplyee pops in to try and do damage control\sell the game too.

I still have reservations myself, but I have to admit to being intrigued by what they have planned.

And what did I say?

1. No I knew beforehand. Everyone did. You just tried to deny it.

2. Like I said. You tried to reduce the fallout by claiming Beamdog "might not do this again". That is doing damage-control. And those are your words.

3. Sure you did. You tried to portray their "deluxe edition" in some sort of positive light, without adding a single word about what their other deluxe editions cost.

4. All they are adding to the game are some mods that are already out there for free. Some slight graphics updates that are little more than a patch. And that somehow equals removing the classic verision = acceptable?


You might want to point out that the EE versions of NWN will be using their own protocol for servers as well. Meaning you have to own the EE version to play it online now. Missed that bit, did you? Beamdog isn't talking about it too loudly either.

No he started defending it as soon as it was announced. He is also deliberately skipping over the negatives that have been revealed so far too. The server protocol only working with the EE version, for example.

It has already been confirmed that Beamdog is selling the Extras for NWN1. Jim even listed it up himself. So...if they are selling it, like they say they are, no way the Classic version will be available for sail with all the extreas included as before?

Beamdog is doing what they did with the 4 other games they got their hands on, and it has been confirmed.



And just for the record. Beamdog has already started contradicting themselves in their own FAQ.

I can not say that he was defending them all the way......He was siding on the euphoric side were as you on the pessimistic side. Nothing wrong with both views, or?
In one point he is absolutely right, we will know for SURE what they screwed up (or not) once the game is released, right?

Good warnings can bring devs back to the drawing boards, if those warnings bring up a shit storm and force them too rethink their position, which I assume is part of your message/warning, right?

And pointing out failed promises and similar, which you did, is the right and good way!!!!!! ( I think I can speak for this for Jim here as well). BUT your message IMHO would have more weight and meaning without ....... let's use boxing terms.....punches below the waistline, right? ;)
If somebody would be worse of those attacks, it would be the devs, but not a fellow gamer being euphoric about a 'remake' of a really good game, right?
