I know. I know. And I can understand (tongue-in-cheek) humour perfectly well, thankyou.
I do. Really.
But he seems quite serious the moment he says it - like he really means it.

Well, if the camera is directly filming your face at that very moment, you could literally do the tongue-in-cheek routine, right? Or at least chuckle or something. (Instead he only turns his eyes to your left - not even rolling the eyes, just looking left.) Otherwise you come across as rather some pompous prick - too full of yourself to be funny.

Just sayin'...
