This game surprised me, verry good fps, good atmosphere, mechanics, voice acting. Yeah some issues with melee kills but overal I would say first decent game from Warhammer40k shooters...
I was on the fence with this one, initially. I really enjoyed Streumons previous games, but the trailers for Necromunda: Hired Gun didn't really show much non-edited gameplay - which is a red flag, obviously. When I saw it was coming to GOG, I preordered anyway, figuring it'd be worth the risk.

I've now spent some 25 hours with the game and I've had an absolute blast. Despite its flaws (story and general jank, mostly), it's probably one of the best action/shooter games we've seen in the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. Personally, I'd even go so far as to say this is a really good shooter, even without adding the "... for a Warhammer 40,000 game" qualifier.

On a side note, I think this might also be the most polished and most well-designed game Streumon have ever put out. Its systems might be less complex than in E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy (meaning there's fewer things to screw up), and it still has a fair bit of jank going on, but it's really nice to see these devs improving their abilities with every release.
I just wished they didn't push that Doom gameplay style so hard and slowed things down a little bit. That and the respawn-in-your-face on some missions/side-missions makes some fights a bit of a mess. The levels are beautiful but a lot of the time everything is moving so fast you can't stop to appreciate it at all.

There are moments in this game where the combination Emperor-tier music and atmosphere made me feel like I was playing EYE for the first time again (well, in fast forward anyway). As someone with an interest in Warhammer, it was fantastic to see a hive city in first-person. 10/10 for atmosphere and design.

Yes, you can tell the team have limited resources but they poured love into the level designs and did the best they could with what they had available. They nailed the gunplay feel even if some balance is a bit whack.

I recommend it. Best single-player action 40k game since Space Marine. Note: I didn't play Deathwing as I wasn't interested in a multi-player focused shooter. I like shooters from the 90s/early 2000s era and the last major publisher FPS I thought was 'decent' was probably Singularity (Raven's last hurrah).
Yeah, really fun game. Nice old style shooter with great level design (from both aesthetic and game mechanics). My only gripe are the contract missions (spawn in the face and right behind your back and it is all on the recycled maps from the campaign) so after few of those I completely gave up on those.

PS: While I am W40k fan I am a Chaos (CSMs & DG) player and not really familiar with Necromunda so this game being a "part of W40k" did not really influenced my vision. Found out about a game just few weeks before release in the discussions about upcoming FPSes)

I am glad you found out about this and are enjoying it. I am a dirty tabletop RPGer and spent more time on the fantasy side of Warhammer. Most of my 40k experience is from the novels and the *shudder* 40k RPG games. OK, they are not *that* bad but if you think 40k video-games have uneven releases...

As for spawn rates etc for the side-missions, maybe they can later patch in how it's done in EYE where it is fully adjustable. That was a neat feature and lets you changes playstyle. The in-your-face spawns definitely need fixing though.
