Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.5, but I'm not able to run the game because of the GLIBC (and GLIBCXX) version. The game seems to require version 2.29, but Ubuntu 18.04 comes with 2.27. Could you guys please compile on some older system? I believe that there are many users who still use the (still supported) Ubuntu 18.04.

Loved Caesar III and Emperor, so looking forward to playing the game!
Thanks,
Martin

I have the same problem. This might be just the first instance; as this version gets older, more and more software will stop supporting it. Upgrading is a bit of a pain since it tends to break things, so I don't like to do it very often. I usually skip major versions - I went from 14.04 to 18.04, and I would like to skip over 20.04 and wait for the next version to become stable and accepted if possible. (The process was far worse when I switched from Slackware to Ubuntu.)

As a temporary solution, I have found that the Windows version of this game works just fine with Wine, requiring no tinkering or configuration. I'm reluctant to upgrade at this point just for one game that I can run perfectly well using Wine, but as soon as this becomes more of a problem, I'll have to go through the hassle. It's inevitable, but I'm hoping to put it off as long as I can. (Incidentally, older Linux games sometimes stop working. For example, I run the Windows version of Corpse Party using Wine because the Linux version is antiquated and requires some libraries that are no longer standard and would create conflicts if I installed them.)

If the developers could recompile it using an older version, that would certainly be nice. Unless there is a reason why the game needs the latest versions of these libraries, I would think that the developers of this game wouldn't want to be on the leading edge of driving 18.04 into obsolescence, as it might hurt their sales.
The problem also affects me. Since it likely is just a matter of compiling the game i find it hard to understand why there is no reaction here at all and why the current update still suffers from the same problem.

The game is announced to work on Ubuntu 18.04 on the store page. It is not. At least react when it is brought up here.

I'm willing to help fix the issue to the best of my abilities. Just ask if you need any more details than already given in this Thread.

Minor update: version 1.0.17 still does not work on Ubuntu 18.04. I've emailed the developers about a week ago, but got no reply. One of the requirements (the GLIBCXX_3.4.26) is gone now, but the other 3 are still there.

I started having problems with a few other things, so I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04. Nebuchadnezzar works properly now. This upgrade wasn't nearly as painful as the last one, when I went from 14.04 to 18.04. A couple minor things stopped working afterwards and had to be fixed or replaced with something similar, but I was surprised that I didn't run into all kinds of problems like I did last time. This makes me wonder if skipping versions is, perhaps, not a good idea. Incidentally, the linux version of Corpse Party started working after the upgrade. Obviously, I can't guarantee that somebody else who upgrades won't run into serious trouble, but my experience is encouraging.
