I have been looking at the game and would like to buy it on GOG, but I'm wondering how does the mods work in GOG version. Is it with NexusMods? Because there are only 4 mods available.

There seems to be decent amount of mods in Steam workshop, might be enough to push me ot buy the game in Steam instead. Or is there a way to get the same mods in GOG version of the game?

All mods on steam work with GOG version. You download mods from steam using the Steamcmd utility, which you can run on your local computer without using the internet. Both Steam and GOG are using the same version of the game, there is no separate version. Anything else above that is the provide benefit/feature offering. I get my games from GOG and use heaps of mods from Steam.
