I am trying to install the game on linux, it starts but when its almost finished it just stops.

Same here, exact same situation, on Windows 10.

It went through after all, but it's hanging near the end for about 5 - 10 min..

I nabbed this game for free earlier this week as I assume many have. I know this topic was started in July and it's XMas now but this is still a problem on Windows 10...
