EY EY! WAAAAAIT!!!
before you go on .. NO this is not another eeey myst crashed on my win7 but however
i'm sitting here wanting to play these lovely games again and have been told that the GOG version is oh so amazing compared to the old / pirated
i have a copy myself ( bought when it came out :O ) but of course that does not work
so what i want here is and estimated guess on what the chance are that i'm even going to be able to run these games (the whole myst series ME - Uru)

and of course to make this fair to actually guess here's some specs:

Win7 home premium
Nvidia GeForce GT 555M
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU 2.00GHz 64x

any thoughts or you guys need more details? xD

Just downloaded Myst masterpiece edition I'm running windows 7 home premium 32bit. system my video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS with all the hype about this version of Myst being oh so fantastic etc etc etc I downloaded it and installed it but it looks shabby and cheap in fact it looks like a cheap copy i payed for this so expected some thing better. I had the original Myst (cd) was beautiful the graphics were awesome this GOG version is crap ! Any ideas any one on how to improve the quality ?

To make the original Myst game look as good as it gets, try running a virtual machine with winXP.
In win 7 Myst/Masterpiece/RealMyst tend to look terrible and completely crappy, mostly due to the game and art having been created in a general 640x420 resolution.
On new computers this will look stretched or pixelated as we usually have three, four or five times the screenres as standard.

To make my gog-copy of Myst look good, I ran it in win7's own virtual machine-program with win xp installed, and set the compatibillity in there for win98.

Fullscreen the VM and run the game in 800x600. You will have black borders, but the game will look good.

Also I'm the lucky owner of an old dinosaur of an AST pentium 100, with 8mb ram, as well as the original retail game, so I can compare them quite easily.
Although the game runs better on the old computer, you get almost the same quality on the VM. At least better than native win7. :)

Good luck!
