Just wondering if there are any changes in the games over here. I do see quite many problem topics on the forum.

I have this kind of box.
If theses versions still run on your current PC I see no reason to buy the GOG versions, unless you really hate discswapping. The GOG versions have some issues, sounds and animations that are missing, and some weird point-of-no-return glitch in Riven that might cause you to miss an (everimportant) clue regarding the overarching story/puzzle. I have quicktime related problems running the disc versions of Myst (any kind) and Riven on modern systems though, so these GOG version are a blessing :)

If it helps it's possible to run Myst & Riven without Quicktime and still get all the movies and what not.

To elaborate- the easiest method is to run them through ScummVM, an emulator. But the last time I checked, a long time ago, the game's were not yet completable. This might have changed since then.

I also seem to recall there being some file you could place in the game's directory that obviated the need for Quicktime- but it's been so long since I played the games that I could very well be mistaken.

Lastly, other media players like VLC can play Quicktime files. If all else fails they might be usable to get them working in game.
