I have the GOG version of Riven, it seems to be mostly working and pretty but the stills and the video don't seem to line up properly. So that when I click on something the square around it jumps up the screen 3 or 4 pixels then come back down again when it returns to a still. Its quite distracting.

Also some of the sounds stop working sometimes and I have to quit and reload. I have been doing lots of websearches for video not lining up with stills and have not found anything so I guess this must be a unique problem with my PC.

I have this same issue, looking for a solution.

I have attached an image showing an example of the problem.

I don't see that it's any good playing around with QuickTime versions or settings as I don't have QuickTime installed. Riven seems to be running fine (apart from the visual glitch) without QuickTime installed, I don't know quite how that works - the QuickTime components are integrated into the GOG install package somehow?
I'm having the exact same problem. Is this just a normal part of the GOG version? I must say it's quite visually distracting.
I haven't played GOG's version of this one yet but I do have the DVD version.

A few suggestions. Set compatibility mode for the game to Windows 95. Change the resolution of your monitor to 640x480 16 bit (high color) and the appropriate refresh rate (refresh rate for my monitor is 60hz for instance).

Right-click your desktop, choose properties and click the last tab on the right. Click advanced, then click the adapter tab. Click the "list all modes" button and choose the 640x480 resolution appropriate for your monitor.

This game is unfortunately picky about what QT version you use. That gave me a major headache when trying to get the DVD version to run. I suggest uninstalling any current versions of quicktime and try using a copy of quicktime 6.
Huh, kind of thought this little glitch was actually just something true to the original version. Not that I'd know myself, I guess.

Nope, no luck fiddling with the compatibility settings either. Man, this is going to annoy the hell out of me when I know about it now!
