Is there a date set for the Riven release?
I loved Myst, but I never got around to finishing Riven and long since lost the 900 CDs that it came on, plus I've heard it doesn't work well on newer systems.
Is there a way that I can get an email notification when it gets released, or does anyone know the day so that I can put it on my calendar?
I have the 10th Anniversary DVD collection (Myst, Riven, Exile), and Riven works just fine.

Don't worry, GoG will be sure to make it run fine on modern PCs. As for release date, I'd have to guess next week or the week after. Don't hold me up to that, but I'm 90% sure that's when they would release it. (Unless they're having tech issues they need to fix before releasing.)

I have the 10th Anniversary DVD collection as well, but I can't get it to work at all. There is the QuickTime issue...and I am not going to break iTunes compatibility to get it to work.
I'm on Vista 64-bit.
Any suggestions on how to get the 10th Anniversary DVD collection to work?
Try Quicktime Alternative, version 2.6.2.

Make sure it's 2.6.2 and not a newer version.
Getting Riven to work on Vista has been a nightmare for me so I'll definitely get the GOG version (I mean, it's only 6 bucks... that's outrageously cheap!).
Speaking of Riven coming soon... Any idea if Exile is also coming? I know I have the disks to both somewhere back home... but... Digital copies of all three would be useful as well.

Ubisoft has the rights to Exile.... although Ubisoft IS on GoG...
Exile is owned by Ubisoft.... although Ubi IS on GoG.....

At the bottom of the 'My account' page there are two checkboxes, one for announcment emails and the other for promo emails. Tick those checkboxes and you're all set.
If I had to guess, it'd be coming out this Tuesday or Thursday. Unless GoG has some surprise games to release.
Sure enough, I check today (thursday) and it's out! Downloading it now. Hopefully the sound performs better than Myst Masterpiece did. I blew through that game in a couple hours because unfortunately I discovered that I still remembered all the puzzle solutions....but the popping and crackling was already giving me a headache.
Riven, on the other hand I never beat, so I suspect I'll be playing it for many more hours.
