I have a weird problem with the book you have in the beginning of Riven. Whenever I try to turn to the next page, it skips ahead two pages, sometimes even three pages, even though I only clicked once. The game runs perfectly fine otherwise.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit, if that might help at all.

I had the same problem, but didn't bother to do anything about it, as while turning the pages backwards the game would behave as expected, so each time I just turned a bit back.

Myself and others have experienced the same problem and to the best of my knowledge there isn't a fix. While the problem may occur with other Journals in the game the most severe instance of the issue seems to occur with Atrus' Journal.

You can try to flip the pages back and forth until you get the right page or you can try clicking on the pages closer to the spine rather than close to the edge - this one seems to have worked for some folks although it din't work for me.

Or you can read Atrus' Journal here. After clicking the link enter the 'Journals of Myst' section, click on the plus sign on 'Riven' and then click on 'Atrus' to read his Journal.

I tried that, but it also goes backwards a page or two. Thanks for the suggestion though. Thanks for the link to the Journal. I'll also see if clicking closer to the spine works.

Found a solution to this issue, a very simple AutoHotkey script. (Download at bottom.)

Run the exe (or if you prefer use the AHK script,) which will stick an icon in your system tray.
Then run Riven, and hit Ctrl+C instead of actually clicking the mouse.

Since this fake click is generated programatically it clicks and releases far faster than a human can, which seems to fix this issue... Most of the time. The double page turn becomes a rare occurrence, it's not totally eradicated.

You can still use normal clicks to get around the world, of course. You'd only need to use it to read the journals.

(I've also added Ctrl+N for Next page and Ctrl+B for Previous page, since moving the mouse then hitting a key is a little weird. xD)

When you're done playing Riven, right click the icon in the system tray and choose exit to get normal Ctrl+C functionality back.
