I bought RealMyst as soon as I saw it here, so maybe because it's new there are still some kinks to work out.
When I initially launched the game, it opened the Setup window and the game itself at the same time, which was a bit awkward. The game opened in 800x600 fullscreen, and the linking panel video on the book in the intro didn't play (displayed as blank white) so I closed out of the game, set the compatibility mode to Windows XP, and went into the settings thing and switched the resolution to 1440x900 (my monitor's native resolution).
Ran the game again, the video worked, but the game was still clearly running in 800x600.
After playing around with the settings some more (I had to open the game's folder to find the realMYSTSetup.exe file), it seems that nothing I change in that setup file is used by the game. I tried the "invert mouse" setting and that didn't do anything either, so I guess it's not just a resolution issue.
The settings program seems to remember what I have selected from instance to instance, so it's strange that the game doesn't acknowledge it. Is the setup program supposed to be creating some kind of ini file? Is there any in-game way to adjust the resolution? 800x600 doesn't look so nice on a widescreen monitor.

Hi,
If you're on Vista/win7, right click the realMystsetup.exe and choose run as admin instead of double clicking it.
You can make this permanent by going into your game start menu folder, right clicking the 'Setup' icon, choose properties, go to the compatibility tab, and tick the 'run as admin' box.

Tried it. Still doesn't work. Program behaves identically regardless of whether or not I run as admin

LuigiHann: Tried it. Didn't work

Try applying XP SP3 compatibility mode and run as admin to the game's shortcut aswell.
Edit.
Here's a detailed step by step explanation of how you should set up things in Vista/Win7.

:(
My computer doesn't have a compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3, only Service Pack 2
Must be some update I'm missing? I seem to have Vista's service pack 2 so I have no idea why I would be missing compatibility with XP's SP3.

That's odd. What OS is it ?
Well, if it really isn't there try to apply XP Service Pack 2 and see how it goes...
I'm running Windows Vista, Service Pack 2. 64 Bit.
I did the step-by-step thing, just using the SP2 compatibility mode, and it still doesn't work.
Edit: Never mind, at some point it apparently did start working. Hard to tell because the intro logo videos look the same either way. Thanks!

That works splendidly! They should make the installer do that by default!
