The new version with Scumm2.0 support *looks* great...

However, accessing the save/file menu seems to be currently impossible.

Clicking near the top of the screen or pressing Alt used to bring it up... but, that does nothing.

Any fixes or workarounds for this problem??

Thanks.

Well, thanks!

(I don't know how I was supposed to know that... But, thanks again!)
Of course! F5.

How could I have not thought of that!

After seeing another thread which said to press alt, or alt+f, I was trying that and then trying random keys. But I didn't get to the F keys (because most of them are remapped to media functions anyway).

Anyway, thanks for the help. Now the game is playable. I really think that critical functionality like being able to save and quit need to be made obvious though. If possible it should be changed to the Esc key instead of F5. Or if that can't be done, at least the information should be mentioned somewhere during startup or in the documentation.

[edit]
On second though, Esc couldn't be used for this, since Esc is used to skip cutscenes.

I suppose the only problem is that there's no way for players to know how to save the game other than searching for help on the internet; and that's not ideal.

gee thanks for that just installed riven again, and it has the new installer and couldn't get the save menu up.
Games that use ScummVM have that feature of using F5. And other features. Check the website for ScummVM to learn more about it and its other options. That might vary depending on the version of ScummVM.

Also note that the GOG game pages often say when a game uses ScummVM, over in the system requirement section for the game (even though it's not a requirement, it's included). Knowing that, you can use the same advantages for the various games.

I'm hopeful there is a way to obtain the old non-SCUMMVM version, I think it was 15061, if I recall?

There's easter eggs and such that you simply CANNOT access in the new ScummVM version, and I vastly prefer the old menu system.

My local installer seems to be corrupt, sadly.
